PETE WELLS
President and CEO

pete.jpgPete Wells is the founder, president and CEO of Smart2Market, a global B2B marketing services and consulting firm, based in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Since founding the company in 2001, Pete has maintained an average of 30% growth per year and currently employs over 15 marketing professionals.

Specializing in the high-tech, engineering, and science industries, Pete's insights and experience allow him to put together a knowledgeable team of experts that deliver value through targeted, innovative campaigns. Under Pete's leadership, clients worldwide realize measurable and successful results that provide a significant return on their marketing investment.


Over his 35-year career, Pete has held a broad range of marketing and business development positions. His experience spans management in sales, service, software, channels and partners, marketing communications, public relations, and business development. Prior to founding Smart2Market, Pete was director of Americas marketing for CoCreate-a successful Hewlett-Packard spin-off that was ultimately acquired by PTC. His responsibilities at CoCreate included the development and communication of the company for its official launch. He also led a team that built awareness and demand for a suite of software solutions worldwide.

Pete graduated with a BSEE degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. In his spare time he enjoys the great Colorado outdoors, serves on the Fort Collins Opera Galleria Condominium Association board and is a volunteer fireman with the Poudre Fire Authority.
 

MARK GUTHRIE
Marketing Program Manager

mark.jpgMark has worked in the software sector for over 30 years-holding positions from development to sales to marketing. Knowing what it is like to "carry a quota", Mark focuses on developing measurable marketing approaches that drive top-line revenue. These include messaging, branding, building sales funnels, and managing key marketing/sales systems such as CRM and marketing automation.

Mark's career path began at the Hewlett-Packard Co. (when Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard were still on the Board of Directors). One of Mark's significant achievements at HP was to architect the systems for HP's first high-volume operation, where orders were 10x that of any other division. Based on this success, Mark was selected to be part of a worldwide team based in Germany for designing HP's high-volume ERP system. Since then, he has held various positions in sales, marketing and business development.

Mark is a graduate of Colorado State University with a B.S. in Business Information Systems.  When he is not at work, you can often find him in the sky, on/in the water, or on snow. Mark is a private pilot and enjoys sailing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, scuba diving, and snow skiing.
 

KATY SCHILLING
Marketing Program Manager

image7Katy Schilling is a success-driven professional with over 5 years of marketing management experience—from initial design through effective implementation. At Smart2Market, Katy develops and monitors client email marketing campaigns that target diverse customer types and product portfolios. Katy also manages event planning and execution, carefully matching the event to the purpose it serves and confirming that every detail is considered in order to ensure a successful event. Additionally, Katy develops and maintains creative and engaging social media campaigns that drive internet awareness and increase traffic to client sites.

Prior to working for Smart2Market, Katy spent 9 years in customer service, participated in several marketing internships and was a Whitewater Adventure Guide. Her customer service experience provides Katy with valuable insights into delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.

Katy graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, which included an emphasis in marketing. In her free time, Katy enjoys being active in the great outdoors. She loves biking and hiking with her dogs, but her true passion is river rafting.

MELISSA IVEY
Marketing Program Manager

MelissaIvey.jpgMelissa Ivey is a marketing professional with over 13 years of experience across multiple marketing disciplines. Joining Smart2Market in 2017, Melissa focuses on localization projects and uses her CMS expertise to implement worldwide website updates, including testing and bug fixes in 14 languages.

Prior to working for Smart2Market, Melissa worked for a global promotion, digital and experiential marketing agency. She was an Account Manager on a promotion that won a Cannes Promotional Gold Lion, The Super Reggie and Gold Ex-Award for the design and structure of a multi-media integrated promotion, resulting in record-breaking orders of 1000 new vehicles within one hour.

Melissa graduated with a B.S. from Michigan State University. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys boating, working out, riding four-wheelers, volunteering with the Junior League of Tyler, and spending time with her husband and son.

LINDSAY BRIGGS
Marketing Program Manager

lindsay.JPGLindsay Briggs is a motivated and detail-oriented marketing/ sales professional with over 12 years of experience working within the software, retail, and education industries.  Joining the Smart2Market team in 2013, Lindsay’s focus is on project management, website content and maintenance, email marketing, and newsletter development. Her experience includes a wide range of marketing activities such as product launches, event planning, press releases, newsletters, e-marketing, and trade show coordination. Lindsay’s eagerness to expand on her already well-rounded skill set in addition to her drive to succeed makes her a valuable asset to the team.

Prior to her position with Smart2Market, Lindsay worked as the marketing manager for a SolidWorks and 3D Systems Value Added Reseller.

Hardworking and eager to learn from a young age, Lindsay graduated with honors and earned both her B.S. and M.A. degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Outside of work, Lindsay enjoys running, spending time with her husband, son, and daughter and being outdoors.

CHRIS L. SMITH
Senior Analyst, Cloud Computing SME

chris_smith.jpgChris Smith has 36 years of experience in developing and delivering technical computing solutions to customers across a wide variety of markets including discrete and process manufacturing, financial services, life sciences, and DOD/DOE test/analysis. As a senior analyst, Chris brings significant real world global experience to the team. His expertise helps customers (both end-users or providers of cloud solutions) develop cloud computing strategies that produce superior business outcomes.

Prior to becoming an analyst and consultant, Chris was Chief Technology Officer for HP's Cloud Computing organization, responsible for the solution strategy that aligned HP's Cloud/Utility services offering with customer requirements and competitive alternatives. He also led HP's HPC Cloud/Utility solutions and business unit since the group's inception in 2005. Chris also developed the start-up business units that would bring those services/products to market. At the executive level, he worked directly with HP's corporate leaders in the strategy and spin-off of a wholly-owned CAD software subsidiary, as well as setting up the Asia-Pacific Region for the software business unit.

Chris is a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. When he is not working, Chris is frequently engaged in one of his many passions which include slalom water skiing, snow skiing, skeet/trap shooting, golfing, and classical piano.
 

ALISON GOLAN
Public Relations and Writing Specialist

alison.jpgAlison Golan is a public relations specialist with 20+ years of experience. At Smart2Market, Alison assists with public relations activities. Her experience includes working with trade, business and vertical press. She has coordinated product launches, trade shows, product reviews, analyst briefings, editorial calendars, and press tours. Alison has arranged national media coverage with CBS, CNN, CNBC, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and Fortune. She possesses robust writing skills and has developed press releases, backgrounders, data sheets, product brochures, case studies, newsletters, bylined articles, white papers, web copy, and advertising themes, slogans and taglines.

Alison started her career as the prime media contact for two leading-edge technology companies - Convex Computer Corporation (a supercomputer manufacturer) and Interphase Corporation (a leading supplier of high-speed networking products). Since then, Alison has been freelancing, representing a number of hardware, software, networking, telecommunications, streaming media, and internet companies worldwide.

Alison has a B.S. degree from Maranatha College, Watertown, Wisconsin. A hard worker and disciplined student from early on, Alison graduated summa cum laude in college and valedictorian in high school. When not working, Alison roller blades, runs, and hangs out with her husband and kids.
